Occupy means to take possession and control a place. “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.” (St. Luke 19:13, NKJV) In this text, he said to “do business till I come.” Doing business and controlling things are directly related to each other, my friend! Going forward, I will attempt to break down what type of mentality it takes to operate within each level. After reading this book, I hope you are inspired to become an executive level thinker and achiever. “…. of the children of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” (2nd Chronicles 12:32) Increase your skill set, learn your environment, desire knowledge, work hard to understand and, most importantly, care about and love you. According to the scripture reference above, the men of this tribe in Israel understood the times in which they lived and knew what their people ought to do. Executive level thinkers take deliberate time to learn and understand the times in which they live. If you own a small business, you should have QuickBooks or some other professional, Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-sanctioned accounting software. If you are a church or ministry, you should have a computer with Internet access and email. If you work for a company, you should know and operate by its mission statement. If you are living in 2012 and beyond, you should have a working knowledge of different cultures, customs, beliefs and geography. Develop an opinion filled with diversity. I’m certain the children of Issachar understood this principle!
