We are now headed down the home stretch and delving into
a matter that is very near and dear to me – the mentor / protég é
relationship and its relevance to building your dream. I feel s o
strongly about its importance, in fact, that I will soon be wri ting
another book, entitled “Become a Protégé to a Trusted Mentor,”
devoted entirely to the issue.
Finding a mentor or mentors is a must-have to successfully
building your dreams! Think of this: God assigns mentors when He
wants to change the course of our lives or help us get to the next
level in Him. He sent Jesus, and in turn, He mentored twelve men
and changed the world forever.
“18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw
two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his
brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were
fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and
I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately
left their nets and followed Him.
21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers,
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,
in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their
nets. He called them, 22 and immediately they left the
boat and their father, and followed Him.”
(Matthew 4:18-22)
“23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I
say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the
kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is
easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly
astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them,
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things
are possible.”
27 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we
have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we
have?”
28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you,
that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on
the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will
also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of
Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers
or sisters or father or mother or wife[k] or children or
lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold,
and inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will
be last, and the last first.” (Matthew 19:23-30)
