Over the past several years, I have attended many workshops, seminars, webinars, and the like, all addressing balancing business in a social networking environment. I have learned and gleaned much from these studies. Yes, people want to know, like, and trust you before doing business. And yes, rapport is paramount to having doors open to a strong business relationship that’s mutually beneficial for all parties involved. Notice I said mutually beneficial.
Mutual means-1. Possessed, experienced, performed, etc., by each of two or more concerning the other; reciprocal: to have mutual respect. 2. having the same relation each toward the other: to be mutual enemies.
Beneficial means-1. Conferring benefit; advantageous; helpful: the beneficial effect of sunshine. 2. helpful in the meeting of needs: a beneficial association.
No matter what environment we are in, we want relationships that benefit both parties if we have a decent and moral character. As a philanthropist, I need to work with great organizations that work to fulfill eminent human needs or eminent environmental needs, including the animal kingdom, plant kingdom, the air we breathe, and the atmosphere in which our planet revolves. My money, intellectual ability/property, and advice are for the taking if you meet these core needs that I consider of utmost value. How is it mutual if I’m giving to these organizations, one might ask? The answer is simple from my perspective; it keeps me on track with my purpose from the heavens. If fine organizations such as the •United Negro College Fund •Boys and Girls Clubs of America •YMCA •Catholic Charities USA •International Missions •InnocentVoices.org •Nurse’s Children Foundation, Inc. don’t exist, then purpose in this season for me does not exist. Do you feel me?
I conclude with this thought; if you have a good product or service that can be quantified as a viable resource that produces mutually beneficial metrics, any environment to collaborate will work for most astute business people.
Don’t be so offensive when someone approaches you with an opportunity that may take place in a social environment. They may have the next best and trending idea since the invention of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.!
Psalm 119:165 “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
