Enjoy life’s experiences

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” (Dr. Seuss) I’m still grateful for all of the love I have experienced in my life. My 1st wife and I lasted for 15 years, and boy, was it a rocky journey, yet I’m grateful for the love. I still remember how fond I was of my 11th-grade sweetheart and how cool our 3-month relationship impacted me socially, for she was one of the more popular girls in my high school. What’s my point, you ask? Dr. Seuss said it best, “smile because it happened.”

It is said, “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all,” and I agree with that statement. Without going through those emotions of puppy love, infatuation, desperation, excitement, disappointment, heartbreak, and so forth, we would not have run the gambit of feelings that are so critical to human existence and development. It makes us unique in the animal kingdom and, more importantly, helps us mature into wise old farts. Would you agree with my summation?

I’m almost 50 years old now and recognize the importance of going through these emotions because now I have a wealth of stories to share, experiences to compare, and great loves lost. The emotions were often not pleasant, and I probably was not very pleasant to be around, but in the end, I’m better for it! Keep searching, trying, and exploring for a great story that will come of it!
