“I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God’s business.” (Michael J. Fox)
A spirit of excellence is what separate’s greatness from mediocrity. As Mr. Fox eloquently describes perfection as “God’s business” we should pursue excellence not perfection. Excellence means the state or quality of excelling or being exceptionally good; extreme merit, while perfection means the act of perfecting or the state or quality of being perfect. If we hold to this concept, when our leaders fall from grace because of bad judgment and human frailty forgiveness is the order of the day for none of us are perfect but excellence can be achieved by anyone.
