My LSU Tigers vs. The Clemson Tigers

I hope you all don’t mind if I vent just a little. We were up with less than 5 minutes to go in the game and lost. 2nd down and 2 yards to go and we pass. 3rd down with 2 yards to go and we pass again. Mind you, our sensational freshmen running back has run for over hundred yards and busted one up the gut for a 57 yard TD but you pass the ball instead of grinding out a couple of 1st downs and running out the clock. Once again, talent will not always trump coaching. I hear the whispers already over the debate of coaching verses talent. I believe you can win with good talent and great coaching but you will rarely win with great talent and average to below average coaching. Bobby Knight never had great talent but he won a ton of games. (Name someone other than Isaiah Thomas that was great for Bob Knight at Indiana University) The Fab 5 at Michigan had great talent but could not win the big game. You will run into some teams that are very lucky such as the Miami Hurricanes under Larry Coker, great talent but average coaching. The LSU team of 2007 that won the BSC with great talent and 2 losses but average coaching comes to mind. USC with Pete Carroll, Florida with Urban Meyer and Alabama with Nick Saban were able to put great talent and great coaching on the same page and the end results are miniature dynasties. We have too much talent at LSU to lose games like we have a propensity to do over the last couple of seasons. I love you Les but we have to turn this tide as the window may be closing on us with Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia all getting better and more confident with each LSU losing blunder. Jeremy Hill our great freshmen running back did not touch the ball in the latter half of the 4th quarter, will someone please explain to me what happened….
